ًWhat is Liver Cancer?
Liver cancer is cancer that starts in the cells of the liver. Liver cancer usually occurs on the background of chronic liver disease, so in these patients, besides cancer, the other qualities of the liver are also impaired by cirrhosis. Liver cancer is multifocal, which means that more than one cancer can occur in different parts of the liver at the same time.

- Jaundice
- Itching skin
- nausea
- Weakness or fatigue
- vomiting of blood
- Loss of Appetite
- Critical abdomen pain
- Abdominal swelling
- Weight loss
- dark urine
- Pale Stool
- Easy Bruising and Bleeding
- Building up of fluids in the legs (edema) and in the Abdomen (Ascites)
How is this diagnosed?
Following tests for liver cancer.
- Laboratory tests. alpha fetoprotein (AFP), Complete blood count (CBC), Liver function tests, Blood tests for other causes of liver disease, Prothrombin Time and International Normalised Ratio (PT/INR)
- Imaging tests. CT scan (Triple phase) and MRI for complete tumor analysis and for spotting the location to the cancer.
- Liver biopsy. To know more information about the extent of your tumor and the types of cells involved
What is the treatment of it?
Treatment varies but may include removal of part of the liver, transplantation, chemotherapy, and, in some cases, radiation.
